Nat Oppenheimer is a Principal of Robert Silman Associates, where he leads much of the firm's institutional work. Current projects include the addition to and renovation of the Harvard University Art Museum and the new 220,00 SF building for the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City's Meatpacking district, both with Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Additional museum work includes the schematic design for the Museum of Image & Sound in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a new museum designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and ongoing work at the Brooklyn Museum as part of the implementation of its Master Plan with Ennead Architects.

He is Principal-in-Charge of the new Police Academy located on 35 acres in Queens, NY, with Perkins + Will, and has worked on numerous high-end retail projects for clients such as Calvin Klein, Puma, Derek Lam, and Apple, among others. He has also been involved in many of RSA's best known residential projects, including the Rennert residence in Southampton, NY, designed by Ferguson & Shamamian, which is the country's largest single-family residence, and the Telyas Residence in Old Westbury, CT, designed by Steven Holl Architects. His work on historic preservation projects includes the restorations of the Wesleyan Chapel at the Women's Rights National Historic Park in Seneca Falls, NY; Harper's Ferry National Historic Park in West Virginia; the National Museum of the American Indian located at the Old US Custom House in New York City; and Frank Lloyd Wright's Wingspread in Racine, WI.

He is currently on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of The Salvadori Center, a not-for-profit organization that uses the built environment as a motivational tool to teach math and science to at-risk, inner-city students, and is on the Board of Directors of the Architectural League of New York, currently serving as Treasurer. He is the co-author of The Design of Renovations (New York: W.W. Norton, 1997). In addition to his work at Princeton University, he has been a visiting juror at Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute. His teaching experience includes the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture and Planning and Parsons School of Architecture.
