Nicholas Risteen wins 2016-17 Fulbright for Doctoral Research

Princeton University School of Architecture is delighted to announce that doctoral student Nicholas Risteen has been selected as a finalist for a 2016-17 Fulbright U.S. Student Award to Japan. 

Nicholas will be conducting research on his Ph.D dissertation, titled: “After the Disaster: Architecture and Emergency in Extraordinary Time.”  In Japan, Risteen will be affiliated with the University of Tokyo, School of Engineering - Department of Architecture, under the direction of Yusuke Obuchi and Kengo Kuma.


The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program of the United States. Fulbright recipients will represent the country as a cultural ambassador while overseas, helping to enhance mutual understanding between Americans and the people of Japan. Over 100,000 Fulbright U.S. Student Program alumni have undertaken grants to over 140 countries since the program began in 1948.
