Katie Zaeh '10

ArcPrep Program Instructor (2017-2019)
Katie Zaeh is an architect and teacher. She was the inaugural instructor of the Princeton ArcPrep program from 2017 to 2019, which introduces high school sophomores from Trenton to the multi-disciplinary field of architecture. She has researched other high school architectural programs around the country and applied this research to write the Princeton ArcPrep curriculum. She believes that architectural education can empower students to design the futures of their own communities.
Prior to working in Trenton, Zaeh worked as an architect at Ziger/Snead Architects in Baltimore, a firm known for its work with cultural institutions in the city and for its adaptive reuse of Baltimore’s historic buildings. She also taught digital drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has taught art for The Children’s Aid Society, and taught painting to members of a Roma community as part of her Davis Projects for Peace project, which used the creation of murals as a statement of positivity and permanence in their town. She was the Exhibitions Assistant at GSAPP’s Arthur Ross Gallery, worked with Situ Studio on their installation “ReOrder” at the Brooklyn Museum, and works with artists CT Jasper and Joanna Malinowska on their installation projects, including “Halka/Haiti,” exhibited at the 2015 Venice Biennale.
Zaeh received her M.Arch from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation where she was awarded the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize and was a William Kinne Fellows Traveling Prize recipient. She received her A.B. from Princeton University in architecture with certificates in visual arts and Italian language, and was awarded the Lucas Award in the Visual Arts. She also graduated from Princeton University’s Teacher Preparation Program, was awarded the 2018 New Jersey Distinguished Clinical Intern Award, and earned her teaching certificate in art.
