Juergen Mayer H. founded J. MAYER H. in 1996 in Berlin after studying architecture at the University of Stuttgart, The Cooper Union, and Princeton University. In 2014, Andre Santer and Hans Schneider joined as partners in the firm. J. MAYER H. und Partner, Architekten mbB is an international award-winning architecture office with projects at the intersection of architecture, communication, and new technology. From urban planning schemes and buildings to installation work and objects with new materials, the relationship between the human body, technology, and nature forms the background for a new production of space.

Mayer H.’s work has been published and exhibited worldwide and is part of numerous collections including MoMA in New York, SF MoMA, The Art Institute of Chicago, Vitra Design Museum Collection, Kunstbibliothek Berlin, State of Berlin Museum Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, and Architekturmuseum der TU München as well as numerous private collections. In 2020, Mayer H. was named Designer of the Year for Design Week São Paulo.

Recent notable projects include the RKM 740 Tower, a high-rise residential building in Dusseldorf with medical practices on the lower levels; the IGZ Headquarters in rural Falkenberg; the FOM University building in Dusseldorf, Germany; a court building in Hasselt, Belgium; and various public and infra-structural buildings in Georgia, such as the airport in Mestia and the border crossing in Sarpi. The most prominent project is the internationally renowned Metropol Parasol–the redesign of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Seville, Spain–with its expansive sculptural wooden construction.
