Alastair Stokes Thesis Declaration

Our engagement with objects takes us regularly between realities, para-fictions and fictions; at the moment of transition our engagement changes, as do our expectations, even if our vocabulary doesn't. We have a certain aesthetic literacy that allows us to construct a reality within whatever world we want, but the differences between these literacies is only noticeable at the moment of transition.

This thesis aims to draw attention to these transitions and the power they might have for designers who operate across these realities, para-fictions and fictions.
