Ice Space

In this project we explore processes of ice formation, both in linear spikes and in less regular, curvilinear shapes. Our method of investigation was structured and informed by Mitchel Resnick’s notion of “mini-hypotheses”--that is, tackling design challenges through small, definable experiments which address practical problems. Guided by the overarching goal of building a fully automated system for the ice formation process, our experiments led us to a more nuanced exploration of ice growth and its potential architectural applications.
