A unanimous jury has chosen After Belonging Agency (Lluis Alexandre Casanovas Blanco, Ignacio G. Galán, Carlos Mínguez Carrasco, Alejandra Navarrete Llopis and Marina Otero Verzier) as curators for the sixth Oslo Architecture Triennale (OAT 2016).

The Triennale After Belonging will design the new objects, spaces and territories for our transformed condition of belonging. The global circulation of people, information and goods has destabilized what we understand by residence, undermining spatial permanence, property and identity—a crisis of belonging. Circulation brings greater accessibility to remoter territories and more diverse goods, and transforms the way we own, exchange and share them. But circulation simultaneously promotes growing inequalities for large groups, kept in precarious transit. After Belonging invites architects to intervene in this transformation and to construct the new spaces of residence by bringing them to work, in Oslo and globally, in a program in-residence. We are after belonging.

After Belonging Agency is a group of five young architects, curators and scholars from Spain based in New York. The jury considers the curator group as highly competent, with relevant knowledge, experience and networks.

The jury found the proposal relevant, both for Oslo as well as for greater international scope. With this concept, OAT could act as a platform for developing new strategies on how to meet future migration issues, and serve as a foundation for new visions for urban development and housing policies both on a local and international level.
