Studio Brief

The studio will first explore the new logic of a Soft Urbanism, where the slow mobility infrastructure that organizes the second layer will perform as an interface that articulates the two adjacent ‘faces’ of Suzhou, the contemporary economic hub with the historical city of canals and gardens. How will this logic affect the existing urban processes from the mega-regional scale to the scale of the city?

Second, the studio will examine the logic of a Soft Architecture, where the articulation of energy infrastructure and digital technology with regard to buildings will be explored at the level of an architectural element of choice—to be developed into a new energy responsive device.
