Michael Young is an architect and an educator practicing in New York City where he is a founding partner of the architecture practice Young & Ayata. Young & Ayata formed as a partnership between Michael Young & Kutan Ayata in New York in 2008 to explore novel formal and organizational possibilities in architecture and urbanism. The practice is dedicated to the exchange between built commissions and design research. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Young has taught design studios and seminars at The Cooper Union, Yale University and Columbia University, and was a visiting professor at Shih Chien University in Taipei, Taiwan, the Crete Technical University, Crete, Greece and the Studio X summer workshop in Thessaloniki, Greece. His drawings have been exhibited recently in New York, Los Angeles, and Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to teaching and practicing, he is invested in writing, research and experimentation on issues concerning geometry and sensation in relation to aesthetic discourse. Young is a Registered Architect in the State of New York.
