The Princeton University School of Architecture's Embodied Computation Lab (ECL) recently won the 2017 Best of Design Award from the Architect's Newspaper. The ECL, which won in the Green - Civic category, is a teaching and research facility dedicated to the interface between computation and design and the development of knowledge in the fields of digital fabrication and remote sensing.
Juror Nathaniel Stanton, principal of Craft Engineer Studio, describes the building: "A lot is achieved in a relatively small built space. The idea of an open source building with swappable components made from reused or repurposed materials with simple yet thoughtful detailing is pretty extraordinary."
